Stupid Camtasia Tricks actually came about as a result of some experimenting I was doing with a couple of video screen recordings. I wanted to use the PowerPoint integration feature of Camtasia Studio to include some PPT slides in a video…

Well…all the PowerPoint templates for slide backgrounds are SO lame, I could bring myself to use any of them…so, I started searching the net for better ones.

I came across a cool PowerPoint add-in called Ovation from Serious Magic. Instead of using a static PowerPoint template, Ovation creates these really interesting Flash-like presentations from plain black-n-white PPT slides.

But…recording the presentation in full screen mode was totally impractical from a Camtasia Recorder standpoint.

I came up with the idea of recording just the Preview window in the Ovation “rehearsal” mode. Bingo! Now, I got a nice size recording AND could use the script teleprompter to do the recording!

I started wondering what other cool things could I record in interesting ways. I found a bunch of them and that’s what I’ll be sharing here. Some of them are…well…kinda stupid and I thought of David Letterman’s Stupid Pet Tricks skits and…there ya have it!
